The importance of researches in new Tropical Medicine is pointed in Congress

Making Brazil lead investigations on tropical themes was one of the debates in the 49th BSTM's Congress.

The 25 years of the Unified Health System (UHS) and the 60 years of the Health Ministry (HM), celebrated this year, were remembered during the 49th Congress of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine (BSTM) that was held in the Arquiteto Rubens Gil de Camillo Conventions Center, in Campo Grande/MS.

BSTM's new board is elected by unanimity

The new BSTM board, headed by Dr. Mitermayer Galvao dos Reis, was elected by unanimity. The election was held during the 49th Congress of the Society.

With 132 out of the 134 valid votes, the new board of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine was elected by unanimity to guide the entity during the biennium 2013-2015, headed by Dr. Mitermayer Galvão dos Reis. During the election, held in Campo Grande / MS, 98 mailed votes were counted, as well as 36 present and 2 null.

Dr. Mitermayer Galvão dos Reis, has a masters degree in Human Pathology from the Bahia Federal University and a Ph.D. in Human Pathology from the same institution, aims to guide the society with the same competence as his predecessor, Dr. Carlos Costa. The new president has already presided the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) in Bahia for 4 years and assures he has support from all BSTM members in order to accomplish his work as head of the entity.

BSTM has a new president

Trying to strengthen the entity along with the society is one of the goals of the new president of the BSTM, Dr. Mitermayer Galvão dos Reis.

Dr. Mitermayer Galvão dos Reis holds a master in Human Pathology from the Bahia Federal University and doctor in Human Pathology from the same institution, was elected president of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine (BSTM) during the 49th institution, which took place from August 7th Grande / MS. He will lead the society during the biennium 2013-2015, and aims to guide the society with the same competence as his predecessor, Dr. Carlos Costa.
